2. Collection and Storage of Personal Data for Newsletter & Memberships
When you subscribe to the newsletter "The Kelvin Report" or create an account, the personal data you provide (e.g., email address, name if applicable) will be collected and stored.
- Purpose: Provision of the newsletter and management of your membership/account.
- Legal Basis: Your consent pursuant to Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR and/or the performance of a contract (for paid subscriptions) pursuant to Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR.
3. Hosting and Newsletter Platform (Ghost)
This website and newsletter service are operated using the platform Ghost.
- Provider: Ghost Foundation / Ghost(Pro)
- Data Processing: Ghost stores and processes member data, email addresses, and access data on my behalf. If data is transferred to third countries outside the EU/EEA, this is done on the basis of EU Standard Contractual Clauses or the Data Privacy Framework.
4. Web Analytics (Ghost-Integrated Analytics)
I use the integrated analytics features provided by Ghost to measure reach and improve the content of "The Kelvin Report".
- Data Processed: Aggregated access data (e.g., pages viewed, anonymized/truncated IP addresses, referrer URLs) and interaction data with newsletters (e.g., email open and click rates) are processed.
- Purpose: Analyzing the use of the newsletter and website to optimize content and user experience.
- Legal Basis: Legitimate interests pursuant to Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. My legitimate interest lies in the demand-driven design and optimization of my publication project.
5. Payment Processing for Paid Subscriptions (Stripe)
For managing and processing paid memberships, I use the payment service provider Stripe.
- Provider: Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd., 1 Grand Canal Street Lower, Grand Canal Dock, Dublin, Ireland (for users within the EEA).
- Data Processing: When you purchase a paid subscription, your payment and contact details (e.g., name, email address, credit card details, billing address, transaction data) are collected and processed directly by Stripe. I do not collect or store full credit card or bank details; I only receive confirmation of successful payment and status updates regarding your subscription.
- Legal Basis: Data processing is necessary for the performance of the contract regarding your paid membership (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

6. Withdrawal of Consent and Unsubscribing
You may withdraw your consent to receive the newsletter at any time with effect for the future. An unsubscribe link ("Unsubscribe") is included at the end of every newsletter. Alternatively, you can manage your subscription via your account settings on the website.
7. Your Data Subject Rights
Under the GDPR, you have the right to access your stored personal data (Art. 15 GDPR), request rectification (Art. 16 GDPR), deletion (Art. 17 GDPR), restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR), and data portability (Art. 20 GDPR). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
